How To Setup Custom Domain On Blogger With GoDaddy

GoDaddy is one of the biggest domain name registrars in the world. Many on blogger.com platform have registered their domain names with GoDaddy. Recently, I purchased a domain from GoDaddy and decided to use this opportunity to show how to set it up to work with blogger.com. Although there are other ways of doing so, this method is faster, easier and free from errors, as you don't need to manually input any record on your domain CPanel.

Steps To Redirect Custom Domain on Blogger With GoDaddy

==> Go to blogger settings and click on Set up a third-party URL for your blog.

==> Type the domain URL in the field as shown below and click Save. You will get an error message We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 32. There is no need for worry. Click On the DNS setting file to download the DNS Zone file.

==> On your GoDaddy account, go to My Domains. Most times you may see the Card view interface. Switch to List view by clicking on those three bar lines as shown by the arrow below.

==> Click on the Domain.

==> Click on DNS Zone File.

==> Delete the default record set by GoDaddy and click save changes. Click on More to pop out the Import Zone File tab and then click on Import Zone File.

==> Upload the Zone file you download earlier from blogger settings and Save.

==> You will see that you have successfully installed everything needed for your domain settings. There is no need to enter Cname, Host, Label, Destination, Target or Points To
field.

==> Now go blogger settings and click on Save.

==> Click on Edit as shown below.

==> Tick the box as shown below and Save.

And that's all it takes to setup your domain on blogger with GoDaddy and it starts working immediately. If you follow the above steps closely, you should be also to redirect your blog successfully.

  1. Is this applicable on other domain name registrars like namecheap, bluehost? Or the nigeria domain name registrar(domainking) when they were still functioning? Or this can only be done on godaddy. Thank you.
