What You Need To Know About Google Allo

Allo is Google new smart chat app for Android and iOS platform. Google Allo is more than just a chat app. The messaging app is smartness, as it has a feature called Smart Reply. Smart Reply makes it easier for you to reply to messages quickly by suggesting to you near-to-accurate responses. For instance, a friend asking you "Are you at home?", Smart Reply suggest to you a "yes". If someone sends you a photo, you might see Smart Reply suggestions like “aww cute!” Allo read the context of your conversation and provide automated responses.

Allo allows you to express yourself with photos, emojis, and stickers. Allo can make emojis and text larger or smaller in size by simply dragging the “send” button up or down. You can take photos of your own by scribbling on them before you send. Allo offers the ability to draw on photos and videos (Android only).

Allo comes with a chatbot called Google assistant that help you find information so quick without leaving a conversation. For instance, you want to share an info, share your favorite YouTube video, just type @google to bring your assistant into any group chat. You can also chat one-on-one with Google assistant, ask for information and you'll get it right away.

With Allo, you can message friends who aren’t yet using Google Allo through SMS and get replies.

Now that you've known what Google Allo does and probably you must have downloaded it. Before you stick to Allo, it is imperative to know about it privacy issues.

Allo is not an end-to-end encrypted app and Google is storing all your chats with Google Assistant on their servers.

According to Google spokesperson, users are given "transparency and control over their data in Google Allo". Allo is provided with "the option to chat in Incognito mode, where messages are end-to-end encrypted and you can set a timer to automatically delete messages from your device and the person you’re chatting with's device at a set time."

Incognito chat mode for end-to-end encryption means the chats disappear after some time. A user can tweak the expiration time for each message in this incognito mode. Please note that Incognito mode isn't turn on by default.

There are hopeful signs that Allo might replace WhatsApp as the most used messaging app, but only time will tell.

How To Change Fonts And Writing Style On WhatsApp

You must have received WhatsApp messages from someone and the texts were having special fonts (bold, italics or strike). A friend of mine has asked me how I was able to write her name having a strike, and I'm sure you must think the same the first time you received a WhatsApp message with special fonts.

WhatsApp introduced the font and writing style to improve the way we chat. You can make a word or sentence bold, italicize or strike it.

This is how to use the feature:

To bold word(s) or sentences, for example, Mazino Oyolo Kigho, add the * character before and after it in this way: *Mazino Oyolo Kigho*. This will make the names bold.

To italicize word(s) or sentences, for example, Mazino Oyolo Kigho, add the _ character before and after it in this way: _Mazino Oyolo Kigho_. This will make the names italicized.

To strike word(s) or sentences, for example, Mazino Oyolo Kigho, add the ~ character before and after it in this way: ~Mazino Oyolo Kigho~. This will strike the names.

I'm quite sure WhatsApp will introduce more writing style and fonts as time goes on. Make sure you are using the updated WhatsApp version to use this features.

Make Quality Video Calls With Google Duo

Technology is changing the way we communicate - it's becoming more easier with innovative applications. Talking to people and seeing them at the same time despite being in distant location improves communication. Google is helping us communicate better which has been marked by the release of Duo.

Duo is a simple, high-quality video calling mobile chat app available on both Android and iOS. Duo will be competing with other instant messaging apps such as Facebook Messenger, Skype, IMO, WhatsApp and FaceTime. But unlike others, Duo is a standalone video calling app, it is purposed only for video chats. Duo has it unique features which include a simple interface, Knock Knock - a live preview feature that enables you to see the caller before you pick. Duo is a cross-platform app with high-quality video. Duo can dynamically adjust the video and audio quality to suit whatever kind of connection you’re on and can maintain the call even when switching from Wi-Fi to cellular and vice versa.

Many Google apps require signing in with a Gmail account but Duo requires only your mobile phone number. This is so because duo works with phone numbers and not username or password. It like directly calling a number from your phone contact. The recipient must also have the Duo app.

How To Begin With Google Duo

Knowing what Google Duo does, the next step is to begin using it. Duo is very easy to set up. Go to Play store or App store and download it. After that, follow these steps below, to begin with it.

==> Launch the App. The Duo logo will display for some few seconds.

==> You'll get a welcome message, also requesting you to agree to its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You must click on 'I AGREE' to proceed further.

==> Input your phone number and click on 'NEXT'.

==> A verification code will be sent to your phone number by SMS. Type the code. If you didn't receive the code via SMS, then try the CALL ME option.

==> The screenshot below is what you will see after verifying your phone number. Click on the video icon to initiate a video call.

You will see a list of your contacts on DUO and you can invite the ones, not on Duo.

==> To adjust the settings, Click on the three dotted lines at the upper right.

You can decide to turn off vibration, remove live preview (knock knock), unregister your number or block numbers and set a limit on mobile data usage.

Note: Knock knock is available currently only on Android.

If you’re having problems verifying your phone number through Duo, try the following steps to finish verifying your phone number:

1. Check your phone number

Make sure your phone number was entered correctly with the right country code.

2. Check for a good Wi-Fi or mobile data connection

Check your settings to make sure WiFi or mobile data is turned on and airplane mode is turned off. Move to where you have a better mobile data connection. Your network signal icon should have at least 1 bar. Test your connections by visiting a website.

3. Make sure that you can get the SMS verification code

Check that your cell signal is on and that your airplane mode is turned off. If your signal is weak, move to where you have a better cell signal. Your network signal icon should have at least 1 bar. Test your connections by sending yourself an SMS.

4. Request a new verification code

On the verification code screen, you can ask for the code again.

If you don’t receive a text message, tap Resend SMS.

If you have a cell connection and aren't getting the SMS, request a call by tapping Call me.

5. Try fixing the app

Quit & restart: Go to your device’s Settings >Apps > Duo > Force Stop. Open Duo again. Uninstall and re-install the app: Try uninstalling Duo. Then re-download Duo and open the app. Restart your phone: Try turning your phone off and turning it back on. Then open Duo again.

If none of the above solve the issue, you can ask questions in the Duo Help Forum.

Twitter Eases 140-Character Tweets Limitation

Social media site, Twitter has announced on Monday 19, September 2016, that it was easing its 140-character limit on tweets, in the latest effort to broaden the appeal and boost the user base of the social network. The new policy announced in May and now in effect no longer factors in certain add-ons, including pictures, into a message’s length.

The San Francisco-based social networking company on its official twitter account tweeted:
“Say more about what’s happening! Rolling out now: photos, videos, GIFs, polls, and Quote Tweets no longer count toward your140 characters,”.

Social media enthusiasts say the decision to ease 140-character limit on tweets is "too little, too late" which should have been done five years ago.

Will this bring back users who have left twitter as result of frustration of tweet limitations? Well, only time will tell.

5 Simple Ways To Drive Sales on Facebook

Whether it's affiliate marketing, freelance services or your own product , Facebook is a great place to drive sales. The reason is simple, Facebook has over 1 billion users! These are potential buyers of your product and all you need is to engage them. There are simple ways by which you can get more sales on Facebook. It is quite easier than you think.

1. Create a Professional Facebook Account

Create a standard Facebook account and add as many people as possible. But mind you, not just anybody! Be selective in adding people. Depending on what you're trying to market, add people that will be interested as this can help boost your conversion. Once your friends know you and get to trust you, expect a huge cash flow. They will recommend you, share your posts and buy from you.

If you're a blog designer, adding music followers will not benefit you in the long run because they will not be interested in online marketing or blog building.

2. Create a Facebook Page

There are many merits of a Facebook page over a Facebook account.

A. You can create ads

B. You can boost posts and select audience

C. You get to see insights

D. You can have more than 5000 likes

These reasons I put above are one of the few reasons why a page trumps a facebook account.

More so, it has a more professional appeal to it and many big brands have a Facebook page which is almost as engaging as their blog site. In fact, some even add call to action buttons and make sales directly from their facebook page. Furthermore, you can as well hire a professional like Mazino to help you build a good page.

With a page, you can add boost posts of your products or services and reach a very wide and targeted audience.

3. Utilize Facebook Groups

If you have a Technology Facebook group that has many users, you can easily post affiliate links, product reviews, or even sell your products. However, don't make the mistake of advertising an affiliate link of phones in a religious Facebook group as it will be seen as spamming.

The good thing about Facebook groups is that you can easily have over 1 million users and it's easy to manage and won't cost you a dime. In short, it's far more cost-effective.

4. Post on Timelines

One of the most underutilized marketing strategies is posting on people's timelines and paradoxically, it's also a widely abused method. No one loves to be spammed. However, there is a better way to go about it. Post timeline updates that will be of benefit to the bearer and his followers. This way, it won't be considered a spam or annoying.

With this method, you can reach new audience, engage your audience properly and drive sales of many sorts.

5. Tags and Hashtags

Make no mistake, these two are not similar. Tags are used to mark a user and attach them to a post. If you tag another influential person in your niche, you get to have their audience attention. However, use this method in a careful way and resist the temptation of overdoing it.

As for Hashtags, you can use specific hashtags to create more awareness for your brands or product and if you're lucky enough, your post can go viral. Twitter users will understand the power of hashtags better.

If you are an online marketer/social media marketer, Facebook is a great way to make money simply by selling services or products.

And listed here are simple tips that are not utilized by many companies and business owners.
